By now you may have seen the reports that the United Way of Tampa Bay canceled an appearance by Susan Sarandon arranged by her brother who works for a local paper. The United Way decided they didn't need the controversy, but naturally Susie is whining:
"Once again, the shortsightedness of the powerful will end up hurting those in need."But digging a little deeper, we find courtesy of Steve Miller in the Washington Times:
Admission was to be $200 for the entire day or $75 to attend a lunch at which Miss Sarandon was to speak. Her speaking fee of $20,000 was to be paid by the St. Petersburg Times Fund with the proceeds going to the local United Way.I guess Susie's in need. Who knew? I thought she had all that urinal cake revenue.
