Antonin Scalia, RIP

US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia passed away today.  He was a great legal scholar and a fine man and will be sorely missed.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott released a statement Saturday afternoon, calling Scalia a man of God, a patriot and an "unwavering defender of the written Constitution."

"He was the solid rock who turned away so many attempts to depart from and distort the Constitution," Abbott said. "We mourn his passing, and we pray that his successor on the Supreme Court will take his place as a champion for the written Constitution and the Rule of Law. Cecilia and I extend our deepest condolences to his family, and we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers."

Of course, the funeral games will now commence with Barky Obama, who is not fit to shine Scalia's shoes, trying to push through another dreary apparatchik like the Crass Latina or the Harvard Bureaucrat. The Republicans seem to be willing to thwart this and they'd better. In a year where the rank and file have amply demonstrated their disdain for the pusillanimous party leadership, caving to the Boy Blunder in the White House on this critical matter is a ticket out of Congress.
