Harry Reid - The Illegal Aliens' Pal

Hey, why not? Harry Reid has been a crook for years. Illegal aliens are like his cousins.

Hey, Kay Hagan! Where is North Carolina's Health-Care Christmas present?

I'm very disappointed.

On Christmas morning I couldn't find one single gift to North Carolina from Sen. Kay Hagan under the health-care "reform" tree.
Louisiana got a nice package. Florida and Connecticut, too. And Nebraska scored a really big present.

Just six days ago Crooked Harry Reid said that if a senator didn't get his state "something" in the health-care "reform" package, then that senator wasn't doing his or her job.

And Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., upped the ante. He said that every state did "get something" in the measure.

OK. it may be a little late, but I'm still excited. What's North Carolina's gift? Goofy Kay, as everyone knows, won her seat in the Senate last year on Barack Obama's coat tails and ever since she has been in Washington whenever Obama or Harry Reid told her to jump, her only response was "How high?" Goofy Kay has voted for every single thing those boys have dredged up so North Carolina's present has got to be something really good!

Flat screen TVs for every man, woman and child? No, no -- that's way too small.

A new military base ... for every county?

A lump of coal and a power plant to fire it?

Oh, I know: Lifetime exemptions for North Carolina residents and all of their descendents from federal income tax? That would be nice.

Whatever it is, I can't wait for the UPS truck to finally get here. The suspense is unbearable.

Senator Ben Nelson may be a whore, but he's not a cheap whore. Cheap Senate sluts must be jealous.

Ben Nelson whore

After weeks of telling everyone that "good boys don't do that," Nebraska Senator Ben "Dover" Nelson couldn't drop his pants fast enough after Harry Reid flashed some serious cash at him:

Why the change of heart?

It appears that the current health care bill’s plan to insure about 30 million uninsured Americans includes a provision to move a good portion of them onto the Medicaid rolls. Needless to say, that’s quite the unfunded mandate to force upon the budgets of our already cash-strapped states.

But there’s one state that today was guaranteed immunity from such a budget-annihilating burden -- Nebraska.  While 49 other states will be forced to scramble and cut and tax and reappropriate in order to meet the new mandates, Nelson’s home state won’t.

That’s because Nelson sold his vote for Reid’s assurance that the feds will pay 100% of any new Nebraska Medicaid costs -- forever.

And that leaves non-Nebraskan taxpayers picking up the tab – forever.

Gosh, that's even more lucrative than a few night stands with Tiger Woods!

But hold on a sec! What about other round-heeled Democrat Senators from conservative states who rolled over for Harry without any such largesse? I bet they are steaming now and thinking about how they could all of a sudden play hard to get too. Maybe they could call up the National Enquirer and offer to sell all their photos and phone messages unless Reid and Obama come up with some piles of cash for them too?

Cut up the Congressional Credit Card at your local Tea Party!

Congressional Credit Card
I'd sure like to have a Congressional Credit Card - a huge honking credit line and someone else on the hook to pay for it. No wonder the Congressional Democrats and Barack Obama are acting like pigs in slop.

Tax Day Tea Party 2009

Well, now is the time for an intervention for the D.C. shopaholics and tomorrow is the first step. Now, regular folks aren't as good as the leftist weenies at protests because they tend to work for a living and don't get government grants to go to demonstrations, but there are a heck of a lot more of them and that is currently making the Washington politicians really, really nervous. Help get the word out to the them - if you keep spending, don't bother coming home from DC. More info at Tax Day Tea Party.

Don't let the Democrats see this!

Taleban
Uploaded by TheoSpark

Just think what would happen if the Donks caught sight of this Taliban training video. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi would surrender immediately, John Murtha would ask for a bribe, and Jimmy Carter and Cindy Sheehan would try to give the guy a tongue bath. It's hard to tell what James "RageBoy" Webb would do, since he doesn't always take his meds.

Must read - Guaranteed income generating plan!

How To Get Rich Quick In Shady Land Deals Like Harry Reid:
Well dream no more, friend, because today I am going to let you in on one of the great secrets of American business (and the mainstream media): The Harry Reid Do-Nothing Miracle Investment System! Through this system, you can sit back and watch the cash roll in from questionable desert real estate investments with the sort of reliability that only government can provide. The system is as simple as it is hidden through shell corporations, nepotism and political contributions. Yes, there are just three easy steps to mogul-like millions in Las Vegas real estate:

1. Find a parcel of land made undesirable by government environmental regulation, utility leases, or simple pesky zoning!
2. Hire a Reid, invest with a Reid, contribute to a Reid, but above all, know a Reid!
3. Be patient while Sen. Harry “Papa” Reid does NOTHING UNUSUAL on your behalf and watch those government barriers to wealth melt away!

Got a stupid endangered tortoise on your worthless land? Let Harry Reid show the BLM a real “shell game” as that value-killing protected habitat is inexplicably moved miles away!

Want to build a primo strip mall in a residential area? Just have a “Casino Lawyer” drop Papa Reid’s name like a severed horse’s head into the silk sheets of local government. Bada-bing! The zoning changes almost as fast as the value of the land!

Bought thousands of acres of land ruined by a pre-existing government power line lease? Just pick up your personal “power line” to Harry Reid and watch with glee as he does NOT use his influence to push a special bill through Congress. ZAP! The federal right-of-way is moved right out of your way … instant millions!
Hey, you wanna make some loot, call a wiseguy! And who's wiser in Nevada than the Oddfather and the famous Reid crime family.

The Oddfather, Part IV

I love sequels, don't you? And what's better than another organized crime story featuring the sinister Oddfather and his goofy clan?

The Reid Crime Family of Las Vegas including Harry Reid, Rory Reid, Leif Reid, Josh Reid, Key Reid, and Steven Barringer

Fuhgeddaboutit!

Here's yesterday's teaser trailer:
Once again, we discover why the Democrats quietly dropped their "culture of corruption" theme for the upcoming midterms. The AP catches Harry Reid without a disclosure on real-estate deals that netted him $700,000 in profit...

In fact, this isn't a new development for Harry Reid. Less than two months ago, I wrote about Reid's questionable involvement and compensation in a related real-estate deal outside of Las Vegas, and the post turned into a column for the New York Post. Harvey Whittemore, a lobbyist and real-estate investor, plied Reid with campaign contributions and employed Reid's family members -- and in exchange, Reid did a number of favors that allowed Whittemore to realize large profits at the expense of environmental regulations that Reid helped Whittemore bulldoze.
...
What did Reid get in exchange for all of this support? According to the Times, Whittemore contributed $45,000 to Reid and his PACs since 2000. He also gave the DSCC $20,000 in 2000, when it pushed Reid as a leader for the party in the Senate. Reid's son Josh got $5,000 for his unsuccessful campaign for a city council seat; his other son Rory got $5,000 for his successful effort to win a spot on the Clark County Board of Commissioners.
Gosh, it's even got "Little Dingy" and "Melon Balls" in the thick of the action!

If that's not exciting enough, there's a new trailer out today:
Harry Reid, stung by the AP's exposure of his complicated land deals with a lobbyist he helped make rich through his personal interventions in Congress, has told the Senate Ethics Committee that he will file amended disclosure statements that would reveal his business relationships for the first time. Reid claims the amendment would be "technical."
I can just see the steely glint in Harry Reid's eye and that bold outthrust chin while he says, "It's technical." Boy, this is going to be exciting.

Harry Reid, brothel inspector

A reader suggests that the previous post would be more evocative if we had a few snaps of Harry Reid getting some more freebies, er, inspecting the other Nevada state industry that was mentioned. This is somewhat difficult because of ole Harry's apparent confusion on the subject:

Harry Reid's brothel mistake

but a little digging found a fetching snap of Harry diligently on the job:

Harry Reid inspecting a brothel

What a selfless public servant!

It was just chump change!

Fuhgeddaboutit!

Everybody's favorite wise guy, the Oddfather himself, Senator Harry Reid got caught with his meat hooks in the cookie jar:
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid accepted free ringside tickets from the Nevada Athletic Commission to three professional boxing matches while that state agency was trying to influence him on federal regulation of boxing.

Reid, D-Nev., took the free seats for Las Vegas fights between 2003 and 2005 as he was pressing legislation to increase government oversight of the sport, including the creation of a federal boxing commission that Nevada's agency feared might usurp its authority.

He defended the gifts, saying they would never influence his position on the bill and was simply trying to learn how his legislation might affect an important home state industry. "Anyone from Nevada would say I'm glad he is there taking care of the state's No. 1 businesses," he told The Associated Press.
Sure Harry, we believe ya! No word on whether he also got freebies at the Mustang Ranch. Of course, his big mistake was taking the tickets personally instead of having his kids do it, like he usually does.

The Oddfather hits the road to talk about corruption

The Reid Crime Family of Las Vegas including Harry Reid, Rory Reid, Leif Reid, Josh Reid, Key Reid, and Steven Barringer

Fuhgeddaboutit!

Democratic Leader Takes Anti-Corruption Message to GOP Turf:
Harry M. Reid is heading into the belly of the beast.

The Senate minority leader will spend much of this week traveling to "red states" -- those that voted for George W. Bush in 2004 -- to campaign for candidates, raise cash and bash Republicans on the issue of corruption.

In each state Reid will conduct events seeking to highlight the need to "restore honest leadership in Washington, D.C.," said his spokesman Jim Manley.
Somehow I don't think the Oddfather will be talking about the family business or his lobbyist cash.

Little Harry Reid has a tantrum

Little Harry Reid has a tantrum

The Curmudgeon has a nice snap with dynamite video of the annoying tyke whining about his Fitzmas presents:
HE SPOKE WITH GREATER AGITATION THAN USUAL. He fumbled nervously with a paper, turning it over and over with his left hand, this way and that, like a little child about to get caught in mischief. Then Harry Reid began swinging his right arm wildly, stating he was closing the Senate doors, forcing Senators to relinquish their cell phones and Blackberrys for the sake of “national security.” Reid squelched the work of the American people for three hours in order to harangue Republicans with insane accusations...
Don't tell Dr. Spock, but a certain naughty little boy really deserves a spanking.

All you need to know about Harriet Miers

Harry Fauntleroy Reid says Harriet Miers is thure thwell
Harry "Fauntleroy" Reid says "Yay!"

On the other hand, the advantage of Harry Reid saying Harriet is yummy is that it momentarily shut up Ralph Neas.

On the main point, David Frum:
So if I don't dislike Miers and want the president to succeed, why am I speaking out? Aside from all the substantial reasons I have cited to date, I am speaking out because there are so many others who want to speak but cannot. I have spent hours over the past three days listening to conservative jurists on this topic - people who have devoted their lives to fighting battles for constitutionalism, for tort reform, for color-blind justice, people who fought the good fight to get Bork, Scalia, Thomas, and now Roberts onto the high Court.

Their reaction to the nomination has been almost perfectly unanimous: Disappointment at best, dismay and anger at worst. Here's the tough truth, and it will become more and more important as the debate continues: There is scarcely a single knowledgeable legal conservative in Washington who supports this nomination. There are many who are prepared to accept her, reluctantly, as the president's choice. Some still hope that maybe it won't turn out as bad as it looks. But ask them: "Well what if the president had consulted you on this choice," and the answer is almost always some version of: "I would have thought he was joking."

You want something done, you call a Wise Guy

Fuhgeddaboutit!

And In Nevada, Reid Is the Name to Know:
WASHINGTON --- It was the kind of legislation that slips under the radar here.

The name alone made the eyes glaze over: "The Clark County Conservation of Public Land and Natural Resources Act of 2002." In a welter of technical jargon, it dealt with boundary shifts, land trades and other arcane matters --- all in Nevada.

As he introduced it, Nevada's senior U.S. senator, Democrat Harry Reid, assured colleagues that his bill was a bipartisan measure to protect the environment and help the economy in America's fastest-growing state.

What Reid did not explain was that the bill promised a cavalcade of benefits to real estate developers, corporations and local institutions that were paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in lobbying fees to his sons' and son-in-law's firms, federal lobbyist reports show.
...
"Lots of people have children, wives and stuff that work back here," he said. "It is not as if a lot of cash is changing hands."
Just walking around money for these swells, I'm sure.
Seeking favors is as old as the Capitol, but the new tendency to come at it from the side --- through family members --- may be a consequence of campaign-finance reform: As restrictions have tightened on traditional political giving, interest groups have cast about for new ways to ingratiate themselves.

Nothing strikes quite such a personal note as channeling fees or lucrative jobs to relatives --- whether the relatives lobby Congress or perform other services. There are no restrictions. Neither House nor Senate rules bar the practice.

At least 17 senators and 11 members of the House have children, spouses or other close relatives who lobby or work as consultants, most in Washington, according to lobbyist reports, financial-disclosure forms and other state and federal records. Many are paid by clients who count on the related lawmaker for support.

But Harry Reid is in a class by himself. One of his sons and his son-in-law lobby in Washington for companies, trade groups and municipalities seeking Reid's help in the Senate. A second son has lobbied in Nevada for some of those same interests, and a third has represented a couple of them as a litigator.

In the last four years alone, their firms have collected more than $2 million in lobbying fees from special interests that were represented by the kids and helped by the senator in Washington.
Click through for more details from this 2003 article by Chuck Neubauer and Richard T. Cooper at the LA Times. I guess the editors didn't spike it because they didn't know what renown Senator Harry Reid would achieve in Donkdom. Don't hold your breath waiting for the Soros funded pressure groups to start complaining. (Hat tip: FR where some folks are wondering whether ole Harry would adopt them.)

Update: What would a story about one of the "families" be without some colorful nicknames? That's what I thought, so I updated the photo.

Smells like a "Pew Job" to me

Only this time the target of our betters in tax exempt foundation land is Tom Delay. It's going just as outlined by Ryan Sager in the "campaign finance reform" disinformation campaign (much more at his blog):

Step 1: Have the tax exempt organizations like George Soros' Open Society Institute fire up their flying monkeys in an alphabet soup of "government watchdog groups" with antecedents that are mysterious, when they aren't pure leftoid Democrat. For garnish, trot out some old line liberal groups like the Campaign for America's Future and have them spend some union members' dues on running ads denouncing their target. The only novel twist this time is that they laundered some of the money through the 527's like MoveOn and ACT, which they created in the original Pew Job.

Step 2: Call in the peanut gallery in the mainstream media to add their one-sided yapping. This NY Time's vignette is special too.

Step 3: Keep the big name Donks under cover, although a few little pissants like Ronnie Earle who likes to indict anyone he doesn't like are OK. It's a popular groundswell, dontcha know!

Step 4: Convince a few RINO's to join in the moanfest.

And there ya go - a perfect recipe. Just sit back and watch it bubble. The only thing that seems to be missing is the Pew foundation itself, although who knows what a little digging would turn up. But that's OK, they've got George Soros, so why settle for second best.

The only problem with this swell plan is that all the complaints are about activities which aren't unethical and which pale by comparison to the Democrat leadership.

My favorite whine is that Delay's daughter and wife are on his campaign payroll for the munificent sum of about $40K each a year. These aren't no show jobs - they do run his campaigns and it's a common practice in Congress to have relatives working on campaigns. Why not? I seem to remember ole RFK ran JFK's Presidential campaign. Now if you want to haul down really big bucks for your relatives, you can do what Senate Minority leader, Harry Reid does - have a crop of family members running lobbying operations.

The other big whine is that Tom Delay took some trips paid for by lobbyists. Sorry to break the news, but that too is business as usual in Congress. Sheesh, Democrats went along on the trips they are whining about! I'd say he's got a ways to go to approach Nancy Pelosi's finder's fee, but the MSM doesn't seem to be chasing her with pitchforks. Why am I not surprised?

The real question is whether our betters' estimate of the American public is correct and a "Pew job" this lame will succeed.

All the phony news that fits

The Prowler:
It's Rathergate all over again, and the same vigilant entities that brought about to the collapse of CBS News could now also cause heads to roll among Democratic Senate leadership staffers and further shame multiple news organizations that would appear to have fallen for another document hoax.
...
Republican leadership staffers now believe the document was generated out of the Democratic opposition research office set up recently by Sen. Harry Reid, and distributed to some Democratic Senate staffers claiming it was a GOP document, in the hope -- or more likely expectation -- that it would then be leaked by those Democrats to reporters. In fact, the New York Times stated that it was Democratic staffers who were distributing the "talking points" document.
The NYT can congratulate themselves for dodging this bullet, but ABC and the rest of the talking heads who transmitted it ought to be ashamed of their stupidity. We know they won't get worked up over their bias. And did you think they would be quick to issue corrections? Well, they're in good company - Air America's new star, Jerry Springer, took time out from his busy transgender lesbian mudwrestling schedule to blather about "the memo".

UPDATE: Fred Barnes in The Weekly Standard - The ABCs of Media Bias.
